Distribution of Blankets for the Poor and Homeless
Between December 2011 and March this year, The Aryavarta Foundation has distributed blankets and clothing amongst the homeless and the needy. Blankets were also distributed to individuals who have made a significant contribution to their community that lives in challenging conditions. This was done with the objective of encourages people to partake in community support activities. We have also identified slum clusters where we hope to distribute clothing and other items of daily use. Our future plan includes setting up collection centres at schools where people can donate old and discarded books, clothes, medicines, and items of dailyuse. This will be followed by a sanitising and segregation of items that will be distributed in slum clusters to elders, women and children as per requirement.
The Aryavarta Foundation has always taken inspiration from this simple line: “Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world; indeed it’s the only thing that ever has” (Margaret Mead 1901-1978, anthropologist).
